professor zhao pengjun is the dean and a professor at the school of urban planning and design at peking university. he holds the honorary title of bo ya distinguished professor at peking university. he is a recipient of the national outstanding youth fund and is a leading figure in technological innovation in the field of land and spatial planning under the ministry of natural resources. he obtained his ph.d. in spatial planning from the university of groningen in the netherlands and has long been engaged in research on transportation and spatial planning, as well as transport geography. he has published over 300 papers in journals such as nsr and nature sub-journals, authored 12 monographs, and holds 15 national invention patents. he currently serves as the director of the key laboratory of land surface system and human-environment interaction under the ministry of natural resources, the editor-in-chief of the international ssci journal "cities," and the vice chairman of the transport geography committee of the international geographical union (igu).
