cheng shengkui is a researcher and doctoral supervisor at the institute of geographical sciences and resources, chinese academy of sciences. he is the president of the chinese society of natural resources, executive director of the chinese society of agriculture, member of the chinese committee of igbp and ihdp, vice president of the chinese society of tillage systems, and associate editor-in-chief of the journal of natural resources. he has led more than 30 projects under the national key research and development program, the national climbing project, the national natural science foundation of china, the directional projects of the chinese academy of sciences, and the projects entrusted by the tibet autonomous region, and is the chief scientist of the chinese academy of sciences' key deployment project "national nutrition and food security strategy research". he has published more than 200 research papers and 10 academic monographs. he has made a series of research results in the fields of resource ecology, resource flow, food security and policy, food consumption and waste, regional sustainable development, etc. in particular, his research in the field of food waste has attracted wide public attention in recent years, and he has been interviewed by cctv's "focus interview" and other exclusive interviews many times. he has won the china qinghai-tibet plateau youth science and technology award, the second prize of science and technology progress of tibet autonomous region, and the special prize of soft science research of the former population and family planning commission, etc.

abstract:

the comprehensive study of natural resources plays an important role in mapping out the "base" of various resources in china, in which resources flow is an important field of resources science research in china, is an important aspect of the management of natural resources in a reasonable manner and promote the of economic, environmental and social coordination. resource flow research plays a pivotal role in national resource and environmental management decisions. a systematic study of the vertical and horizontal flows of various types of food resources in china has revealed the evolution of the spatial and temporal pattern of food supply and demand and quantitatively measured the efficiency and resource and environmental impacts of each link of food from production to consumption, the results showed that the phenomenon of wasting food consumption link and its huge resources environmental impact should not be ignored. in the current new era, the complex environment at home and abroad, such as trade friction between china and the united states, the monopoly of international food traders, and the changing dietary concepts and dietary structure of domestic residents, have posed greater challenges to the smooth operation of food security in china, and it is crucial to establish a new era of national nutrition and food security.
