xu chongyu is a professor in the department of earth sciences, at the university of oslo, norway. fellow of the norwegian academy of science and letters, fellow of the norwegian academy of engineering. honorary professor of beijing normal university and hohai university. he has long been engaged in global environmental change and hydrology and water resources response, and hydrological simulation studies at different times and spatial scales in different climate regions. he has won the world meteorological organization outstanding young scientist award, the nordic hydrological association lifetime achievement award, the international water association publication award, the chinese academy of sciences overseas outstanding scholar, the chinese academy of sciences overseas evaluation expert, ipcc assessment report evaluation expert, and the world's highly cited scientist.
