recently, a 6.2-magnitude earthquake struck jishishan county, gansu, causing serious damage to the lives and property of the local people and drawing widespread attention from the entire society.
to quickly understand the geological disaster situation triggered by this earthquake, professor wang xia's team from lanzhou university, in collaboration with the gansu academy of sciences institute of geological and natural disaster prevention, jointly formed a geological disaster investigation team and arrived in the disaster-stricken area of jishishan on the 21st to conduct geological disaster investigation. the investigation team comprehensively understood the geological environment of the disaster area through geological surveys, drone aerial surveys, and other technical means. they conducted detailed inspections of houses, roads, bridges, and residents' resettlement points in the disaster area, assessed the impact of the earthquake on local infrastructure. meanwhile, they conducted investigations into geological disasters such as landslides and mudslides in minhe county, qinghai, and carried out risk assessments of their potential impacts. the investigation team also assessed the ecological environment of the two disaster areas, providing scientific basis for post-disaster ecological environment restoration.
during the investigation, the team actively communicated with local governments and rescue personnel, conducted earthquake disaster prevention and mitigation publicity among residents in the disaster-stricken areas, and enhanced residents' awareness of earthquake prevention and mitigation as well as their abilities for self-rescue and evacuation in case of disasters. the investigation results of professor wang xia's team have a certain guiding significance for the reconstruction work in the disaster-stricken areas, contributing positively to the recovery and development of the affected regions.
