on the afternoon of october 8, 2022, at the invitation of professor mou cuicui and associate professor lu xia the college of earth and environment science, lanzhou university, professor zhong huan of nanjing university gave a lecture on the "global cycle of persistent pollutants" course to the 2022 doctoral students majoring in resources and environment of our university. the theme of the course is the other side of the coin: recognising the "natural barrier" of mercury risk.

professor zhong huan first introduced the protagonist of this course: methylmercury from the discussion of the difference in the degree of harm of different forms of mercury to the ecological environment, from the conduction chain of methylmercury in the environment and its impact on organisms, to the driving factors of mercury methylation and even the microscopic mechanism of organic matter affecting the ecological risk of mercury, and how to apply the interaction between organic matter and methylmercury to seek advantages and avoid harms. professor zhong huan's lecture style was humorous and funny, guiding everyone to think and actively participate in the discussion while teaching knowledge, and the classroom atmosphere was harmonious and active, and the students benefited a lot from this class.
