recently, our college has held a series of academic reports on "advances in geographical information science". associate professor yan kai from china university of geosciences (beijing) and dr. zhao gang from basf, one of the world's top 500 enterprises, were invited to communicate with teachers and postgraduate students in related majors about the development and application of quantitative remote sensing products, the combination of 3s (gis, rs, gnss) technology and digital agriculture and other topics.
associate professor yan kai first introduced the development history of modis lai/fpar quantitative remote sensing product, which is widely used in the world, and then made an in-depth introduction on the operational status, accuracy evaluation, algorithm improvement and other issues of the product. based on surveying and mapping and gis professional background and the work experience at basf,dr zhao introduced the application of 3s technology in the digital agriculture industry present situation, the facing opportunities and challenges, etc. and he used the network platform/client software developed by his team to showed how the 3s technology and agricultural model combined, and how it can help improve crop yields, identify pests and diseases, and reduce the use of fertilizers and pesticides.
after the report, associate professor yan kai and dr. zhao gang had an active interaction and communication with teachers and students and had in-depth exchanges on cooperation in scientific research projects and jointly organizing academic forums. at the same time, they introduced the employment ideas of students who are interested in digital agriculture-related enterprises and have reached a further cooperation intention. the series of reports on "advances in geographical information science" will invite visiting experts and scholars in relevant fields from home and abroad to give academic reports on the advances in remote sensing, surveying, and mapping and geographic information fields.
