on october 19, the establishment ceremony of desert scientific expedition committee (dsec) of china adventure association (caa) was held in lanzhou university. li jie, deputy secretary-general of caa, announced the decision on the establishment and the appointment of the main members of the dsec. academician qin dahe, president of the caa, attended the ceremony and awarded theplaqueto professor wang naiang, director of the center for glacier and desert research, lanzhou university, marking the formal establishment of the dsec.
professor kang shichang, vice chairman of caa, professor pan baotian, vice president of lanzhou university, professor ma quanlin, deputy director of gansu desert control research institute, and more than 50 representatives from relevant research institutes, universities and middle school attended the ceremony, which was held by shen zhenghu, party secretary of the college of earth and environmental sciences, lanzhou university.

during the ceremony, chairman qin reviewed the development of caa and pointed out the dsec is a professional research institution, which was established under the leadership of caa, relying on lanzhou university, to promote chinese desert scientific research. pan baotian said the establishment of the dsec will promote exchanges and cooperation in relevant fields and provide a good platform for young scientists and students to research and study. professor wang naiang expressed dsec will develop desert scientific and research work actively. besides, professor ma quanlin, professor zhang jianming of lanzhou university, professor li gang of northwest university, professor kang chunguo of harbin normal university, associate professor xu jun of hehai university, made statements and put forward suggestions for the development of dsec of caa.
