in the morning, prof. liang made an academic report entitled “the trans-provincial influence on human health of china's atmospheric mercury emissions” in the lecture hall 1615, guanyun building. professor liang first described the background of the research: the harm caused by excessive mercury in the human body, the circulation of mercury in biogeochemistry, and the international minamata convention on reducing mercury hazards. then, he introduced the health risk maps of mercury intake in mainland china drawn for the first time from the perspectives of economic supply chain and regional trade, respectively, and discussed the sources of health risks due to mercury exposure and trans-provincial impacts from the perspectives of production, consumption and initial investment. the report explains the impact and overall effect of inter-regional trade on the spatial distribution of health risks due to mercury exposure in china mainland, providing a scientific reference for targeted mercury risk control from different angles, strengthening cooperation among various regions in china and providing new ideas for fulfilling the minamata convention from multiple perspectives.

in the afternoon, professor liang exchanged views on “input-output model and environmental footprint” and “environment input-output model and database” with the teachers and students of the institute for studies in county economy development and the laboratory of western china’s circular economy.
