yan haowen, professor, doctoral supervisor, "yangtze river scholar" distinguished professor, national young and middle-aged scientific and technological innovation leader, national "ten thousand plan" scientific and technological innovation leader, top-notch leading talent in gansu province (in the field of science and technology). he is currently the dean of the faculty of geomatics, lanzhou jiaotong university, and the director of the national and local joint engineering research center for the application of geography and national conditions monitoring technology in lanzhou jiaotong university. the main research neighbourhoods are wemaps, automated map generalization, spatial relations, geovisualization and spatial analysis, spatial data finger-printing and watermarking and history of maps and cartography. he has published 13 books, including 7 english books; published more than 200 papers, of which 56 were the first author, and 20 were included in sci; obtained 21 patents; presided over more than 30 scientific research projects; hosted international and domestic academic conferences as the chairman of the conference more than 10, founded the first "academic symposium on cartography theory and methods" in china. he started and served as the editor-in-chief of the journal of geovisualization and spatial analysis in springer, and a long-term reviewer for international academic journals such as the international journal of geographical information sciences, geoinformatica, computers and geosciences.
