lecturer profile:

liu hongyan, a professor and doctoral supervisor of the college of urban and environmental sciences, peking university. he mainly focuses on the vegetation in the ecologically fragile areas (arid and semi-arid areas, karsts, the southern edge of the tundra) of east asia to discuss how forests, grasslands, deserts and wetlands respond to climate change and the possible changes of their ecosystem services in the process of climate change and the relationship between ecological restoration and improvement of ecosystem services. the recent research focuses on the following aspects: 1) the sensitivity analysis of past climate change and vegetation in the marginal area of monsoon climate; 2) analysis of driving factors of productivity dynamics of different ecosystem types in ecologically fragile areas; 3) water and soil nutrition restrict the growth of natural and artificial forests in ecologically fragile areas; 4) the ecological adaptability mechanism of forest, shrub and grassland vegetation to climate aridification; 5) the impact of vegetation degradation and vegetation restoration in ecologically fragile areas on its ecosystem services. as the first or corresponding author, he has published more than 130 sci papers in national science reviewnature communicationsearth science reviews, etc.
