MDC-T attempts to reap where ZAPU sows whilst ZANU rejoices when our brothers moan

MDC-T attempts to reap where ZAPU sows whilst ZANU rejoices when our brothers moan

For Mthwakazi it rarely rains but pours. Since the Gukurahundi, the sufferings of  the people of Matebeleland South province have attracted little sympathy from ZANU PF or Zimbabwean authorities. With the exception of ZAPU, this Mthwakazian province has been forced to endure disheartening loses on its own.

The loss of Mr Stewart Nkwate in Gwanda earlier this week has been quickly overshadowed by the loss of up to 26  Mthwakazian sons with more than 20 hailing from Kezi, in a disused mine in Roodepert, Johannesburg.

Despite ZAPU's efforts to help retrieve the dead from the collapsed mine, It was MDC-T that was boosting about being the device that had arranged to liberate the dead of the caved in mine cage and even offered a route to help the bereaved families lay their own to rest in their ancestral lands.

According to a report from Bulawayo24, MDC-T spokesmen Boaz Mangamiso has gone on record to claim that the recently defeated political party has an agreement in place with Kings and Queens Funeral Parlour in South Africa to ferry the bodies to the Kings and Queens brunch in Bulawayo. These claims were quickly denied and rebuked by Kings and Queens as they are yet to receive any contact from the Zimbabwean political party or are they willing to be associated with this disrespectful claim.

This report has fueled the anger towards MDC-T as they have shown great disrespect to the bereaved families and Mthwakazi as a whole by attempting to use this tragedy as a catapulting mechanisms to gain more support from the people in Matebeleland South without lifting a finger to help the people. MDC-T has been accused of using the people of Mthwakazi as nothing more than poll numbers in the past but not under such grieve circumstances.

As the facts continue to contradict Mr Boaz Mangamiso's statement, reports on the ground have confirmed that 25 bodies had been retrieved from the mine with the help of ZAPU and Mthwakazians living in South African. The chairperson of ZAPU Johannesburg, Mr Halimana Ndlovu has further reprimanded MDC-T for turning this Mthwakazian tradegy into a publicity stunt.

Mr Ndlovu also added that MDC-T's premature claims have the potential to deter current sponsors and potential future sponsors who have been locked in discussions with ZAPU trying to find the best way to move the bodies back to Mthwakazi. Mr Ndlovu went on to add that no agreement was in place with Kings and Queens or any funeral parlour but ZAPU were in talks with two others parlours and were hopeful in reaching a positive conclusion.

Whilst Mr Ndlovu was not not interested in turning this time of moaning  into a political  game, he went on record to confirm that MDC-T South Africa are actually broke and that the only support they could offer the people of Mthwakazi is a spiritual one. The ZAPU's chairperson went on to invite MDC-T and other well wishers to join the task force and work side by side with ZAPU and the Mthwakazian community to help move the bodies back to Mthwakazi.

Despite a report coming from the Zimbabwean government about their sympathies for the loss Mthwakazi has suffered , many believe actions speak louder than words and the Zimbabwean government willingness to spending over 3 million dollars on Bona wedding in comparison to nothing on helping the lost victims shows where their interests truly lie.

Worryingly though is the fact that this tragedy has came too soon for the Mthwakazian chief to be in South Africa, Mr Gumede. The need for a coming together can not be denied but they is little Mr Gumede can do at the moment. Despite all this, the consensus from various reports on the ground show that the people are united in the need for a Mthwakazian chief. A silver lining in this time of need.

Isolated reports have stated that they is an unholy agreement in place with Zimbabwe over the distribution of cheap slave labour. This has made South Africa's silence a worrying sight for Mthwakazians in South Africa. As things stand, it is not foreigners but the children of Mthwakazi working hand in hand with the people's party, ZAPU that has answered the cries of Mthwakazians. We can find solace in this.
