Mzilikazi II makes a dash to Silobela
Published: 30 October 2017 | by Mnqobi Ngwenya
The team left Bulawayo at 07:00hrs headed to Silobela where King Mzilikazi II was invited to the official opening of a business by one of Mthwakazi’s great leaders.

The distance of 167km to Nkayi took 4 hours due to the very bad and dangerous road that has maimed and killed many souls due to numerous accidents. 37 years after independence there has been no effort made at improving this ever so busy road. What is surprising is that the road cuts through Nyathi Centre where there is a huge cluster of gold mines.

The wealth coming from mining gold in this area is not visible at all even though there are big mines like Queens Mine, Turk Mine, Lonely Mine to name just a few. One wonders where all this gold mined here is going and whose lives it is enriching at the expense of the locals who are just used as cheap labour. King Mzilikazi II was at pains to see all this injustice which is done to our people.

After reaching Nkayi we took the road towards Kwekwe which is a good road but after a few kilometres we left this road and took a dirt road. The rains were pouring and after a few kilometres the car got stuck in the mud. Left with no choice we decided to walk and hopefully find a homestead where we could get help. The rains kept pouring and the team walked 4 km to the nearest village where we sought help from Mr Moyo’s homestead.  We managed to call our host from here and told him exactly where we were and it was decided that we meet at a point 2.5km from where we were.

Again we braved the rains and soldiered forward. In everyone’s mind was the urge to get to our final destination.

At the rendezvous we were picked up by our host and I could see smiles on the people’s faces. We then drove for another 16km to get to the business centre. Here we found throngs of people of all  ages who had come to witness the official opening of the business. The people were numbering close to 300.

INKOSI uMzilikazi II was introduced to the people and was given a chance to address the gathering and this is what he told the gathering;

•  Thanked the people for coming in huge numbers to witness and support the opening of a new shop in the area.

•  Advised the people to respect each other and encouraged the spirit of UBUNTU to be revived.

•  Ask the businessman to help the needy in the community.  He gave the businessman a certificate of appreciation.

•  By the King’s presence in their area it will bring blessings to the community and the King wants to be informed by whatever is troubling his people.

•  Lastly, invited the people to come to Bulawayo or send a representative from the area to bring seeds (inhlanyelo) on the 5th November 2017 where the King will bless the soil  (Umhlabathi),  seeds (inhlanyelo) and to ask for good rains.

After the address people came to greet the King and then a meal was shared with everyone. Photos were taken and then the King and his team bade farewell and left with a group of 6 strong young  men to remove the stuck automobile.

• The car was successfully removed from the mud and the team proceeded back to Bulawayo.
