Ngeso lo Khozi (IK) - Interview with HRM King Mzilikazi II (HM).
A couple of years back , Matebele Royal family announced that they will install a King who will lead the nation after so many years of after the demise of King Lobhengula. In contemporary politics absolute monarchies have disappeared save for King Mswati of Swaziland. Khumalo Royal Family promised the nation that there will select a King and present him to the nation. Until then that promise has not been fulfilled and it is still unclear if the selected King will be under Zimbabwean constitution or will precede the restoration of Matebeleland as a sovereign state and undo the flawed decolonisation process of 1980. In the midst of this paradox Stanley Raphael Khumalo a descendant of Hlangabeza ka Mzilikazi has made a loud claim to the throne declaring himself a King , making a strong diplomatic offensive to S.A.D.C states and informed the Zimbabwean government about the rise of his ascendancy. Iso lo Khozi caught up with His Majesty King Mzilikazi II. Below is the interview of His Majesty.
I.K – Ngangezwe , sesingaqala ingxoxo yethu
H.M- Good Morning sesingaqala
I.K – From now on whatever you say will be published without alterations.
H.M – It is okay
I.K – Besides using your ascendancy name which is King Mzilikazi II. What is your official name?
H.M – I am Stanley Raphael Khumalo
I.K – When and how did you ascend to be a Matebele King?
H.M – It has been a process , it started with a Vision from God in 2002 and visions kept coming and growing but all about the same purpose. What God said was is that He loves his people and wants me to free them from abusive regimes that have ruled over then and that he has anointed me their King.I was also afraid of the challenges ahead of a mission like this. However God kept sending people to me to confirm His word and also to argue me to get started.
Apart from my family I then brought it to the attention of the Khumalo Royal Family. I have addressed the Khumalo Research committee ,IQoqo Labadala and a large Khumalo gathering of which I am part of. The rest of the things have evolved through God directed activities for freeing the people of Mthwakazi and restoration of their Kingdom. At a particular time during the process God commanded that I should use the name King Mzilikazi II because he has anointed me in that name and also the authority of my office lies.
I.K – Your Majesty , upon your announcement as a King the media was awash about you being a Tshuma. How do you respond to that?
H.M – I come from Prince Hlangabeza ka Mzilikazi. When Hlangabeza was murdered by his brother King Lobhengula esithi umsitha isithunzi sobukhosi my great grandfather Khuhlumba who was the eldest son of Hlangabeza fled and took refuge at Mkapavula and was hidden by an old woman called Bahanga Tshuma. We used that name because of those circumstances. The people that went to the media are Khumalo who fully know that I am a Khumalo , I have been working with important Khumalo issues as a very important member of the family. I saw it as a desperate move of jealousy without understanding the whole purpose of the Kingship.
I.K – Since you testify that once in your life you used a Tshuma surname , have you changed your details or you still use the Tshuma surname?
H.M – I have been officially using my family name Khumalo since 2009.
I.K – Some sections of Matebele aristocrats claim that you are not fit because you don't come from King Lobhengula's lineage.
H.M – Actually it can be argued that King Lobhengula was not fit to be King because of the way he was born. However true Kingship is by God appointment , that is why David's son Jesse was anointed King despite that he did not come from the lineage of King Saul like Jonathan. However uHlangabeza who was born from Indlunkulu , umama ka Lobhengula wayengumthanyelo.
I.K – Your Majesty you have spelled it out that you want to free your people. What do you mean by your people freedom?
H.M – It is God purpose and plan that Mthwakazi must be Restored as a Kingdom in line with her precolonial boundaries and that Mthwakazi must be a sovereign state , freed from unholy union of 1923 by the British that destroyed the sovereignty of Matebeleland by merging it with Mashonaland into the then crown colony of Rhodesia and subsequent Zimbabwe. This is a source of oppression and suppression. The freedom of Mthwakazi entails the Restoration of Mthwakazi and its freedom.
I.K – In modern day politics your country lies between two sovereign states Zimbabwe and Botswana. How do you intend to undo that any means that you have tried since your ascendancy?
H.M – I have since revoked the agreement that has made us to be part of the State of Zimbabwe. I have made communication to the President of Zimbabwe Robert Mugabe , to the British Monarchy , United Nations , AU and SADC. I have also advised other governments through their embassies of the same. I am aware that this is not an event but a process , however I want it to be very short process because of the continued suffering of my people under Zimbabwean regimes. There are other interventions which are going on but I am not at liberty to disclose them as yet.
I.K – As you have stated that you have approached Zimbabwean government and S.A.D.C.What was the response to your diplomatic offensive?
H.M – So far I have not received any direct responses. I have received indications and we are working on those. The issue has aroused a lot of interest as you can appreciate that it is a quite a massive exercise and we are still working on the process.
I.K – Your Majesty over a period of time absolute monarchies have evolved to ceremonial Monarchies. What is the complex of your ascendancy? Will you be ceremonial or absolute Monarch?
H.M – We will have a Royal Council led by a King (More of House of Lords) , and a government which will deliver services , both systems will have checks and balance of each other. We are not really limited to choose from the above , but we are able to create a system that is conducive to our own life peace and progress.
I.K – Your Majesty , besides genocide and many other political oppression the economic value of Matebeleland contributes more than 75% of Zimbabwe fiscal revenue , yet you and your people do not benefit. Do you have any power to address these before full restoration of Matebele statehood?
H.M – The only way to address that anomaly is to restore the statehood of Matebeleland. Engaging government of Zimbabwe in issues like that is a waste of time. When you are King you do not do pressure group stuff. You take your territory and rule it.
I.K – In Catalina they have taken over taxation and the economy of the territory from Spain even before the political process , is it not something you can do to reduce the impact of oppression and the movement of your people to South Africa?
H.M – Thank you for that observation. I guess that can be done and should be done particularly in the light that you have mentioned above. Currently it was reported that several people died in the Limpopo river trying to cross into South Africa in search of jobs. The probability is that those people who died are Matebele. Yes it should be done.
I.K – As a King of the Matebele a and a diverse nation , you are mostly likely to face a denial from your own people that you intend to free from oppression. How do you intend to make an inclusive system of governance?
H.M – So far I am meeting people in my "Meet The People Tour ", we have been meeting with different ethnic groups that make up Mthwakazi State and I have been received by all of them very well. They are people who for money reasons are willing to divide the Mthwakazi , but those are handful with masters elsewhere. However the reality on the ground is very different. They will always be one top leader at any given time and that leader will come from one family and one given group.
That is not new , it is old and that must not be a problem. However as for me by birth or by association , God has made sure that I come from all ethnic groups that are in Matebeleland and love them , and respect them genuinely and I see them as one so to me I do not have a problem in that area.
I.K – In the recent past, there is a surge in Mthwakazi Parties. How has that augmented your ascendancy and your vision?
H.M – They have played a great role in creating awareness of both our plight as a people as well in some cases our options. While the vision that I carry solely comes from God , I believe it is within God plan to bring up these political parties carrying this agenda to prepare ground for this dispensation. I ma very grateful to the work that they have done and to their courage of their leadership they are heroes.
I.K – Your Majesty , I hope you understand that your life is a public facility. Tell me more about your profession and the places you have lived and your family.
H.M – Yes I do but Kings are not like Presidents. However I will send you my profile in your email.
I.K – Just in brief your profession?
H.M – I did nursing and mental health in United Kingdom and I also studied Marketing.
I.K – To conclude ,any message to your people
H.M – For my people of Mthwakazi, I want you to know that it is not the cheerleaders or spectators that win games but players that are involved in the actual play. So far they are so many cheerleaders and spectators and very few players and that might tend to delay the process. I love you all genuinely. God bless you.
I.K – Ngangezwe lakhe wena owakhula silibele , Inkosi ayiqedwa.
