On the flip of the coin

On the flip of the coin
Published: 12 July 2017 | by The Intermittent wise Guru
It is not the life that you want, but the one that you deserve which sets the stage for the play we call life.  It is not the punishment you deserve, but the one that stretches the limits of our humanity that forges the word we pronounce as justice.

And this, my brothers and sisters is the coin on which Mthwakazi is forced to dance.  A neutral tag of war daring the fool to flip it; where on one side, we have what we deserve waiting in wings, whilst on the other, justice calls to the strings that bind the spirit of Mthwakazi brotherhood together.

But we are no nation of fools, neither do we place our hopes on happy go lucky gamblers looking to tempt fate, no sir, we are a nation of warriors with blood of old and blood of nobility following through these aged veins, and like those wise men who refused to live in the bane of stupidity, I invite you, my brothers and sisters, to come flip this coin and help unthread this conundrum that has manifested itself in the form of Prince Stanley Khumalo better known as Mzilikazi II before our easterly neighbours rush in and force the coin to land in their favour.

On the tail side of this coin, we are presented with what we deserve,  should we fulfil the promise of Mthwakazi restoration. An archetype leader, a heaven sent king that does not just fit in with the times, but reshapes the attitudes which will secure our future.

And on this regard, none can fault Mzilikazi II. It is no secret that these harsh times have been dismal failures when it come breeding hard men. Yet, from the ashes of failure rises a flame so accustomed to prevailing in the times,  one should be forgiven for believing that God moulded him with the purpose of restoration in mind.

Aboandoning the Nkomo peace by all means approach to hostile politics and casting aside the Mandela trivial etiquette when dealing with a serpent like oppresser, Mzilikazi II appears to be a man who has invoked the spirit of King Shaka without the bloody spear.

With a brutal approach to his words, intentions and actions, Mzilikazi II slices through obstacles the way the hot knife believes itself a god to butter. He lacks the respect that has enabled our oppressors to dance around the arms of justice with slippery words, and should they try, he transforms a calm river into a torrent flooding with Nyaminyami's fury and should they further believe they will oppress and subjugate Mthwakazi and call their crimes a moment of madness to be forgotten, not even the mercy of God will come to their aid.

Following in the steps of King Zwide, Mzilikazi II has combined the material with the spiritual. Taking his claim beyond the taint of blood, he has traced back to the days when God blew breath unto dust and men rose to serve. Like a Mthwakazi clad Moses, he has hit the sweet spot for the nations love for mosaic leader who places his plans on a solid never changing pillar and what can be more solid and more eternal that the creator of the universe?

And to limit this man to kings and prophets is more sin than understatement. Like an inside joke, he emulates one of Africa's greatest sons as if taking his name was not enough. Judging from the way he sways the crowds and has turned a small gathering of tens into thousands even with tide of opposition which a large number now cheer for him. Mzilikazi II is Mzilikazi the returned indeed as the King was known to turn bloody hands from the battlefield into a firm as he turned foes into the greatest of allies and most loyal of subjects.

And his defiance of traditions is more King Mzilikazi's reply to King Shaka than an insult to the institution he seeks to serve, despite that though, the coin flips and I have to invite you to ask, " is this justice to the men who bleed, killed, and died for the creation of Mthwakazi for their actions to be undone so we bask under the warmth of independence?"

What? You ask. Tell me my brothers, what would become of the Kings of old in this modern world? King Shaka will be an imprisoned warlord, King Zwide a regular at the mental institute for the criminally insane for his beliefs in his mother's powers. The time for warlords is at end and the rise of snakes and liars is at hand.

And to add weight to the injustice of endorsing Mzilikazi II, he is more mirage than reflection of the men above. His resolve to get down dirty is yet to be tested the way Sishangane did King Shaka. Whislt King Mzilikazi goal of creating a rainbow nation that shines through the nights skies into heaven was laid out in plain sight for his people, we only get a silhouette from him.

His claim coming from the heavens can never be denied, neither can it be proven. For all men speak with their god and find answers in their ways. And taking to account the economy of Pastor Mboro's and grass fed congregations, calling him a fake conman is not as unjustified as it sounds.

But can be forgiven if had not forced his God on the nation. For Mthwakazi is a rainbow, each clan coming with their God's and beliefs. For any man, no matter who whispers in their ear at night a grave misjustice on the people's rights and the history he shared. Was it not God who called Mzilikazi to Matopo? Was Njelele not the seat for his presence on earth? So why then is that God being replaced with one who created flawed creatures that needed a Cesare Borgia look alike son to wash away our sins?

My forefathers fought to bring this nation to Mlimo, our grandmothers wept for their sons and  husbands who died on that mission, what justice is there in parading a foreign God who only lives the pages of edited texts on our national flag, the very symbol that should honour their sacrifices?

No, we can not taint their works with a religion that has been detrimental to their nation, culture and customs.

And what justice is there in a traditional ceremony with a King that does not believe in it, with one who would rather have a pastor over isangoma? With one who has a white Jesus instead of the rocks of eNjelele, the ones that called over his ancestor?

My brothers, sisters, and kin, let us flee from the stupid snake that shade all of its old skin too quickly, and was left more unidentifiable worm vulnerable to even the weakest of worms.

I believe the holy book says from dust we came, and to dust we shall return. So is the case with this dilemma we face, it goes full circle taking us from the end to the start and from the start to end. Leaving us to ponder which side of the coin will shape our future. One we believe we deserve, or the one that does justice to those who came before us.

Ngiyabonga.
