In this article, I write to explain why we say we aren't Zimbabweans. We also seek to dismiss with utter contempt the notion of the so called National Transitional Authority by self styled technocrats of Zimbabwe posing as saviours when they are wolves in sheep skins.
A fact is that Mthwakazi and Zimbabwe(Mashonaland) are two separate states capable of independent existence as they were prior to colonization in 1890(Mashonaland) and in 1893-4 Mthwakazi by the BSAC with the aid of shona batmen.
The 1979-80 decolonization process was heavily flawed and we condemn and challenge it in the strongest of terms because it did not restore the states to original owners and this has resulted in the current internal colonization by the shona since April 1980.
The border between Mthwakazi and Mashonaland(Zimbabwe) signed for between Lobhengula of Mthwakazi and Star Leander Jameson(1892) representing the Shona was not revoked in 1980 and still stands even now.
It defies logic to hear a modern human being shamelessly claiming that Mthwakazi and Zimbabwe are one country. It is even more absurd to hear claims of ownership of the land between Zambezi and Limpopo rivers by the Shona. Such claims are baseless and very dangerous even to the claimants themselves.
At the defeat of Mthwakazi Kingdom by BSAC with shona batmen in 1893, the people of Mthwakazi started demanding the Restoration of their vanquished Kingdom through their leaders. In 1912 Prince Nyamande's efforts to have Mthwakazi restored were thwarted by the white colonialists.
Again in 1914, Prince Nyamande travelled to England to have the Kingdom restored and his efforts were thwarted again. It ought to be noted at this point that there was nothing called Zimbabwe, it was Mthwakazi and Mashonaland.
Basing on the foregoing, how and when does Mthwakazi become Zimbabwe? Basing on what? The name Zimbabwe remains without any meaning to people of Mthwakazi and unwelcome despite several efforts by the Shona to force it to our nation.
It needs to be noted in soberest of senses that nowhere across the length and breadth of Mthwakazi can we find the graves or any form of traces for the shona to suggest that they once inhabited Mthwakazi.
Most nations that have pre- existed colonialism have traces of their existences which can be their artifacts or graves to legitimise their claims that they once owned that particular piece of land which is not the case in Mthwakazi when the shona are brought to the equation.
In the same vein, at the promulgation of 1930 Land Apportionment Act by the whites to pave way for their massive farms and mines with forced labour, the Mthwakazi inhabitants were bungled and removed to tsetse fly and mosquito infested forests of Tsholotsho, Lupane, Nkayi, Gokwe, Lower Gwelo and Gwanda South where they still live even today. If indeed the shona lived in Mthwakazi as they claim, where were they removed and resettled during those land grabs by whites?
Any person in their normal senses and of average intelligence can see that the claims of land ownership by the shona are preposterous and should be dismissed with the contempt they deserve. They never lived in Mthwakazi.
Our people who were displaced at the above mentioned places still live there and reserve the right to reclaim their lands as they still know where and when they were displaced. On the contrary, the shona under their first ever known king Robert Mugabe, have been on rampage stealing Mthwakazi lands under the dubious land reform programme of 2000.
It is for this reason that as MLF, we shall undertake land audit to eject land thieves from Zimbabwe because such people have no land rights whatsoever in Mthwakazi unless that is done through Mthwakazi systems that will be legally binding.
As such the Zimbabweans who think they own land in Mthwakazi will soon wake up from their dangerous dreams of theft through their government led by their king Robert Matibili Mugabe.
It therefore boggles the mind to find some technocrats wanting to impose their weird thinking into solving problems of Mthwakazi from the context of a unitary Zimbabwe.
As MLF, we denounce and dismiss such technocrats because they are bereft of important historical facts which should inform their decisions. They are congenial to Zanu PF legacy which forms the basis of their motivation. Such people are removed from the realities on the ground and must never be taken seriously.
We do know that the bulk of these proponents for the crazy national transtional authourity( hoping they dont include include Mthwakazi in this nationalism of theirs) are beneficiaries of Mugabe and Zanu PF and some MDC. We can name and shame such people who want to perpetuate the suffering of Mthwakazi in the unitary Zimbabwe of their own conception.
There is no solution to be reached for the land in question without restoration of Mthwakazi and without MLF involvement. As MLF, we shall repudiate any arrangement by whatever opportunists which subtly seeks to return our people to misery and abject poverty currently experienced in the unitary Zimbabwe while these technocrats are in comfort zones made for them in advance by Zanu PF and Mugabe. It must clear to all and sundry that there shall be no solution for us Mthwakazi without us at table.
The wierd idea of fair and free elections in the unitary Zimbabwe is misplaced. As Mthwakazi, we no longer lobby to be ruled well but to rule ourselves - a reason why we shall not accept any form of solution which evades restoration of Mthwakazi-our patriarchal land.
It is for the foregoing reasons that we seek protection from the regional and international powers to enable us to regain our nationhood, pride, identity and self determination.
To MLF therefore, the notion of Transitional Authority is neither here nor there. We demand restoration of Mthwakazi without which there will be no solution. We have a legitimate right to reclaim our land, identity and independence from Zimbabwe and so a solution for us in the failed unitary Zimbabwean utopia is unacceptable to us.
