Nothing wrong about saying Shonas killed Ndebeles: MLO
Published: 27 July 2016 | by Israel Dube, MLO Secretary for Information and Public Affairs

A few weeks ago I was attacked by Zimbabweans who descended on me like angry bees. They hurled all sorts of insults at me.

My sins, if they are sins at all, were that of raising the issue of Matebele genocide which is a hot potato and ticking time bomb in Zimbabwe. And that of calling for Matebeles not to participate in the on going protests in my article, titled "Why Matabeles Should Not Participate In The On Going Zimbabwe protests".

As MLO we were so surprised and filled with revulsion as to why Shonas want Matebele genocide swept under the carpet, coach Matebeles as to when to talk about the genocide, how they must react and when.

Within the period 1933 and 1945 Germans and their collaborators murdered 6 million Jews. The evil act is known as the holocaust. The perpetrators faced justice and people all over the world talk repeatedly about it and it is known throughout the world that Germans killed Jews.

In 1994 the Hutu murdered 800 000 Tutsis and the satanic event was classified as genocide. Perpetrators were brought to book. The event is still being talked about and receiving worldwide condemnation to date and it is well known that the Hutu killed the Tutsis.

If the above unfortunate events and many others which took place around the world are openly talked about, being condemned and the perpetrators identified, named, shamed and punished, is there anything wrong in talking about the diabolical Matebele genocide?

Why do misguided Shona people do not want the world to know that Shonas murdered more than 40 000 Matebeles between 1983 and 1987?

Why must the Matebele genocide be kept as a secret not to be talked about when others are talked about: is it because Matebeles are less human than others in the world or Shonas are more special murderers than others who have committed the same inhuman and horrendous crime but have been named, shamed and punished?

Genocide is a serious and punishable crime well defined in the international law. As MLO we would not allow ourselves to be intimidated into silence by Shona Matebele genocide perpetrators, collaborators and supporters.

Anyone who prevents the Matebele genocide debate is saying that the murdering of innocent civilians in Matabeleland is justified. We will continue to name and shame the perpetrators of Matebele genocide and their collaborators without fear or favour. We shall continue demanding justice until the perpetrators face justice.

MLO Supreme Council is grateful towards the people of Matabeleland for having taken heed to our call not to participate in the Zimbabwe protests. We are happy to let you know that out of 29 wards in Bulawayo only three participated i.e Pumula, Luveve and Makokoba. The small crowds that took part as shown in the videos that are circulating in social media, was boosted by people who were bused in from Mashonaland.

This shows that the people of Matabeleland are now politically alert and cannot be deceived by Zimbabweans anymore. They are aware that Zimbabwe is a failed state without its own currency which will be difficult to have now or in the near future. Zimbabwe is sitting on a huge and swelling debt of over 11,70 billion United States dollars and their finance Minister, Patric Chinamasa was in the West a few days ago begging for more loans. When he was asked by journalists in France as to how much he needed he said, "there is no limit."

The debt has to be paid and liquidated by the present generation up to 10th generation. Why should Matebeles pay this huge and growing debt which we have never benefit from? Zimbabwe has obsolete and dilapidated infrastructure. It is a broken country with broken values and systems and has lost international reputation due to high appetite for corruption, managerial ineptitude and financial profligacy.

The demands of the organisers of the protests as listed in the article that is circulating in the social media are too shallow and do not match our human and intrinsic demands. They are as follows:

1. No to corrupt ministers
2. No to police beating people
3. No to not paying civil servants
4. No to bond notes
5. No to import ban
6. No to abductions

These demos do not address Matabeleland grievances of discrimination at work, social life, loss of independence and sovereignty, apologies and compensation for genocide.

Zimbabwe became independent in 1980 after losing their country in 1890 while Matebeleland lost her sovereignty in 1893 and still under colonialism and remains a captive state.

Their demands are a far cry and do not talk to our line of demands which are:
A)Restoration of Matebeleland State by recognising all the boundaries before the arrival of the colonialist in particular the Jameson Line

B) Reparations for Matebeleland genocide committed by Zimbabwe government.
C) Return all farms seized by zimbabwe. government to original owners.

D) Return or compensate all weapons and military arsenals taken away from Zipra

E) The return or compensation for military arsenals must be returned to the MLO Supreme Council which shall form the government of The Republic of Matabeleland

F) Remove all shona deployees from Matebeleland boundaries.
These are our demands and are none negotiable.

We are also forced to sympathise with 3 leaders of Tajamuka who have been rounded up by the police for organising violent protests. But the same leaders did not sympathise with us when our relatives were murdered by Zimbabwe National Army 5th Brigade.

They did not sympathise with us when Cde Paul Siwela, John Gazi and Charles Thomas were arrested for advocating the restoration of Matabeleland sovereignty and independence, when Mthwakazi Youth Joint Resolution members were arrested for exposing buses that were bringing in people from Mashonaland to take up jobs in Matabeleland.

They do not sympathise with the 5 parents that were recently arrested for demanding the expulsion of teachers who cause low pass rates at Mlamuli Secondary School in Lupane.

Why must we sympathise with them? This shows that they do not take our grievances as theirs so why must we take theirs as ours? It is simple. We accept that our grievances are not yours and your grievances are not ours. You do not sympathise with us and you will not get our sympathy. Matabeleland is ours to look after and you must take care of your own Mashonaland.

MLO Supreme Council advises the people of Matabeleland to wait for their own program which is on the way. It would be identifiable by its uniqueness.
