Siphesakhe Youth Organisation is formally announcing that it will host the Gukurahundi Commemoration Day on the 4th of June 2016 at Samora Machel Community Hall, Cape Town South Africa. This is a free event. This event will be followed by the Loyiko Gukurahundi Play Launch in Johannesburg on the 25th of June 2016 at Hillbrow Theatre and followers will be updated accordingly after the 4th of June 2016
We would like to inform the world that we completely take full charge of being our brothers' ambassadors and will patiently wait for those who stopped Ibhetshu Likazulu to conduct the same event in Bulawayo Zimbabwe to come and stop us in South Africa.
As young South Africans we have learnt that there was no much difference at all between the Zipra forces and the Umkhonto weSizwe and we would like to believe that our brothers who were killed in Morogoro in Tanzania there were South Africans there and our brothers who were called dissidents there were South African citizens within them and we would love to question the current Zimbabwean government that they were working hand in hand with the diabolic apartheid system.
The discovery of Ascourt arms that were for uMkhonto weSizwe by the Zimbabwean Government, gave this government an absurd rationale and justification to pursue an ethnic cleansing pogrom to punish our cousins across the Limpopo for simply being their brothers’ keepers. This is not acceptable in our books. How can a pregnant woman have their tummy dissected for the arms cache? How are they responsible for that with their little baby? It does not make sense. The Gukurahundi Genocide is barbaric event revealing the darkest and deepest side of human evil and must be condemned by all peace loving and human rights respecting peoples of the world. We are one of those peoples.
We would like to openly declare that we are taking a side in this issue not because we are biased as some of the emails and phone calls coming from Shona people put it but only on the principle of advancing calls for Truth, Justice, Healing, Decent Burials and Memory for the victims. This is a noble and just cause. It has the moral impetus needed to save humanity from degenerating into such depravity in the future.
We believe that if the World can march against Xenophobia, which we dearly condemn, the same conscience that led thousands and thousands of people to march against Xenophobia in RSA must also lead the March against perpetrators of Gukurahundi Genocide and the Gukurahundi system in Zimbabwe.
If the World strongly condemns the Jewish Holocaust and we condemn it too, it must also condemn the Gukurahundi Genocide without butting an eyelid.
We therefore call upon those in favour of Truth, Justice, Decent Burials and Memory for the victims of Gukurahundi to come and join us commemorate the victims of Gukurahundi and to agitate for the liberation of our oppressed African brothers across the Limpopo. Our event will be filled with poems and songs of Gukurahundi from young upcoming artists and a Gukurahundi lecture from one of our guests.
